Guess by now you figured out that the real brains behind the company is my wife. Well it's true and I don't care what anybody says. So there...
And now, without further adieu, let me present me, Rick the "Extreme Craftsman" and my wife the boss, Belinda the "Extreme Craftsmanette".
Wow, I thought I would never get through that part. Of course my wife was standing over my shoulder the whole time making sure I didn't write anything stupid. Well before I do lets get to the nuts and bolts.
At Extreme Craftsman we build heirloom-quality, solid-wood furniture in a broad range of styles and themes. We offer just about any exotic hardwood you can dream of and some you can't. Each piece is custom designed, incorporating a client's personal preferences, the piece's expected function in the client's home or office, and the extreme craftsman's own twist. Together we make a piece of furniture that is both useful and unique.
Extreme Craftsman's work offers a sharp counterpoint to today's world of disposable products. Each piece is built to last. We employ traditional joinery techniques, ensuring that our furniture can withstand generations of loving — if not always tender - use. Joints are designed with durability in mind, and are carefully fitted with hand tools and assembled one at a time. Finishes are used as the piece and its use dictate, from laquer to conversion varnish. The end result is a piece of furniture that is visually appealing, fully functional and guaranteed for the lifetime of the maker.
Almost entirely self trained, I have been working wood for 35 years. I actually hung out my shingle at the age of 14 and never looked back. We recently opened our new 2500 sq. ft. shop here in beautiful Orange Park, FL. In the near future we will be offering classes to teach woodworking to any folks out there that want to learn how to make their own furniture.
